Tips for using Search effectively
Search engines by default search for all the given words and displays the page which has the all given search words. Listed below is an example of a boolean search.
apple banana
find pages that contain at least one of these words.
+apple +banana
find pages that contain both words.
+apple macintosh
word "apple", but rank it higher if it also contains "macintosh".
+apple -macintosh
word "apple" but not "macintosh".
+apple +(>pie
"apple" and "pie", or "apple" and "strudel" (in any order), but rank "apple pie" higher than "apple strudel".
apple*
"apple", "apples", "applesauce", and "applet". * represents 0 or more characters and can only occur at the end of a search word!
"some words"
find pages that contain the exact phrase "some words" (for example, pages that contain "some words of wisdom" but not "some noise words").
